Isolation

The Canary Islands are probably one of the most strange looking set of islands anywhere in the world. When you first arrive there it looks like you have landed on the moon with mountains of volcanic dust and rock with nearly no trees or foliage to speak of. The waves are almost built only for bodyboarders which you would think is a god send but in reality it means that you are sharing the waves with bodyboarders that are very protective and know exactly how to hassle in the lineup. This forced Byron Loubser and me to seek other spots. This is one of the waves we found near town. This day had 4 of us out, the most crowded day we had! Most of the time we had it to ourselves! hit the pic to enlarge it.
